No personal success, achievement, or goal, can be realized without self-discipline. It is singularly the most important attribute needed to achieve any type of personal excellence, athletic excellence, virtuosity in the arts, or otherwise outstanding performance.
How does discipline determine your level of success and why is it important
Hello readers, it’s James here again.
And if you haven’t, go ahead and read my other post on the importance of discipline here.
Now let’s get into it, shall we?
If you don’t know what discipline is I suggest you go check out that one I just mentioned above, here’s another link for it.
But why does discipline determine your level of success?
As I mentioned in the post I did about why determination is important, discipline is one of the fundamental core values that can ultimately lead you to success.
In short, discipline is the willingness & determination to persevere when thing’s take a take for the worst or when thing’s don’t seem to go your way and oppose what you set out for.
But then that still doesn’t answer the main question being how does discipline determine my level of success? we will get to that in a bit.
Discipline is also what allows us to focus, hone in and practice on our craft and you know how they say that practice makes perfect, that saying couldn’t be truer.
And that right there says it all folks, *Discipline is also what allows us to focus, hone in and practice on our craft*. you see, we may not start out perfect, with anything new to us in life we are bound to make a mistake or two but it is with discipline that we persevere and we practice and practice to become better at whatever it is that we are practicing for.
Discipline also enables us to stay on track with what we set out for (our convictions or what we want to aspire to as our goal), a disciplined man is a powerful one.
Discipline enables us to stay true to our focus and to not so easily get sidetracked, to enact habits and actions that would further our pursuit of success and overall wellness.
It also shows that you’re hard-working, you’re disciplined enough to hack at the midnight oil or to do the best at your workplace, you will stand out above your peers.
To further elaborate upon what has just been started, here are 6 examples of what discipline can do for you in terms of success
Disciplined people are careful about the thoughts they allow to occupy their minds. They make the conscious choice to think only in terms of success. The attitude they keep is positive. Success isn’t going to always come easily; therefore, their failures are viewed as promotional opportunities that guide them toward their next more successful direction. Disciplined people understand that the way they think will either destroy them or continue to evolve them.
An important key to being disciplined is not to be rigid, but resourceful.
Disciplined people are not afraid to ask for guidance when necessary or to get outside of their comfort zone to establish new patterns of behavior that will help them going forward. If they don’t have what they need, disciplined people have a fierce determination to figure out how to secure the things they are missing.
These types of people refuse to take No for an answer because they have the resourcefulness to solve their problems in one way or another.
3. It boosts your self-esteem and work ethic.
Success comes to those who believe in themselves and who’s the hardest worker in the room. Self-discipline helps you to boost your self-esteem and work ethic at the same time.
When you discipline yourself, you are actually improving your work ethic by sticking to it.
It will help you to achieve your objectives.
However, when you complete your objectives every day, you will start to boost your self-esteem and confidence in your work.
This is the reason self-discipline is important for success.
4. It helps you to achieve mastery.
Success comes to those who are masters, not beginners. If you want success, you need to be a master at something.
You become master by putting the work and spending up to 10,000 hours on one thing.
Mastery comes with discipline. Most people fail because they don’t master anything. Whereas, successful people do one thing and master it.
So, this is how self-discipline will bring out mastery and mastery will bring out success.
5. It helps you to become the best version of yourself.
Success comes only when you deserve it. You cannot become successful with the personality you currently have. So, you need improvements every single day.
You need to become the best version of yourself to become successful in life.
Self-discipline helps you to improve yourself daily. When you do something consistently, you become better and better every day.
So, this is why self-discipline is important for success and growth in life.
6. Expect frustration.
Disciplined people trust they grow the most when challenged by optimal levels of frustration. The frustrations that challenge them are the very ones that distinguish them as being a success rather than a failure. When disciplined people are challenged or frustrated, their problem-solving skills are called to the forefront and they stay open and committed.
They are willing to be flexible in their approach until they develop the wisdom necessary to succeed. These times of uncertainty challenge disciplined people on all levels and end up determining the strength of their character.
As I mentioned above, a disciplined man is a powerful one and you too can discipline yourself to reach further success, newer heights and hone your craft.
So stop making excuses, do it today and do it now, fell through one of your habits? did you fall off the wagon along the way? no worries everything in life is just a matter of trial and error, we all learn from our mistakes, we adapt and we try again because that is determination, that is discipline.
You are the master of your destiny, the creator and shaper of your life. If you want your destiny to look and feel a certain way, then you must develop the discipline to get there. You love yourself right? you want the best for yourself? then develop the discipline required to get you to where you want to be at.
